The 134th Cavalry Regiment (formerly 134th Infantry) is a cavalry regiment in the Army National Guard. ==Lineage== Organized in 1855 from independent militia companies of the Nebraska Territory as the 1st and 2nd Regiments, Nebraska Militia, commanded by Brigadier General John M. Thayer. * Reorganized in part at Omaha, Nebraska Territory as 1st Regiment Nebraska Volunteer Infantry (Two Companies organized from volunteers of Iowa), Col. John M. Thayer, and mustered into Federal service 11 June 1861.
